The pickers start arriving in town a week before for the RockyGrass Academy, in anticipation of the opportunities to play prior to the start of the festival. Organized by the same folks who put on Telluride Bluegrass, RockyGrass is the traditional festival, whereas Telluride stretches the boundaries. In addition to staples such as Sam Bush, Peter Rowan and Del McCoury, the upcoming line-up includes hot newcomers such as The Biscuit Burners and Bearfoot Bluegrass.
