Rockygrass Faculty announced:

Planet Bluegrass announced, this week, the faculty for the 18th Annual RockyGrass Academy (July 24-28). This week-long bluegrass school brings together many of the finest musicians in bluegrass the week preceding the RockyGrass festival at the Planet Bluegrass Ranch in Lyons, Colorado.

This year’s faculty includes some of the most influential musicians on each bluegrass instrument, including Grammy / International Bluegrass Music Association winners Psychograss, the Kruger Brothers, Peter Rowan, Bryan Sutton, Sally Van Meter, Mike Bub, and many others.

The faculty on each instrument:

Guitar: Bryan Sutton, David Grier, Uwe Kruger, Sandy Munro
Mandolin: Mike Marshall, Christopher Henry, Ben Winship
Banjo: Tony Trischka, Jens Kruger, Charlie Cushman
Fiddle: Darol Anger, Brian Wicklund, and TBA

Planet Bluegrass also reminded Festivarians that due to overwhelming demand camping passes for the Town Park campground are again being sold via an online lottery. The lottery is open now thru Wednesday, November 17 at http://www.bluegrass.com/telluride/lottery-townpark. The Town Park lottery typically attracts festivarians from nearly all 50 states and several foreign countries for camping spaces in the festival’s original campground, with its many long-running camps and traditions.

And because of overwhelming demand, spaces in the RockyGrass Academy are offered using an online lottery, open now thru Wednesday, November 17 at http://www.RockygrassAcademy.com.

Over 200 musicians from around the world spend the week learning bluegrass music from their heroes. Academy students camp along the St. Vrain River at Planet Bluegrass, with dozens of late-night jams each night throughout the campground. In addition to courses on individual instruments, the Academy includes courses in vocals and songwriting, as well as numerous daily sessions on vocal harmony, arranging, improvisation, and many others.
