Casual Heart fans, such as myself, were first exposed to the band’s hit singles like “Barracuda” and “Magic Man” on FM radio — tracks that epitomize arena rock. But true fans know, too, that there’s much more than Heart’s anthems and this three CD plus one DVD box shows that, while providing a comprehensive overview of the band’s career. Heart’s breadth of work mirrors the two distinct personalities of the bands’ sibling songwriters. It’s a yin and yang, sour and sweet music formula that has always served the band well. There are no stunning deep cuts or surprises here, just a look at the solid foundation of musicianship that exists beyond the hits. —Daviet
