Joining 450 cities worldwide, Make Music Denver observes World Music Day with a daylong celebration downtown on June 21.
Centered on the 16th street mall, Make Music Denver is a chance for everyone to showcase their musical talents in this daylong event, and for music appreciators to enjoy the eclectic blend of Denver music from the amateur musician to the professional. With over 90 musicians already pre-registered, and space for more still available, there’s a plethora of music to be enjoyed.
The event will not only showcase the talents of Denver’s musicians but is encouraging individuals to take their instruments to work as well. Make Music Denver wants to make June 21st a day of music even in the office, as well as coordinating a mass gathering of musicians in Skyline Park to make music en masse hourly from 10am to 6pm. Capping off the day of free music will be a concert by the Hazel Miller Band and Dotsero, starting at 5pm at the main stage in Skyline Park (16th and Arapahoe).
Plenty of opportunities are available to volunteer for those who don’t own an instrument but want to help in the festivities. The Downtown Denver Partnership is accepting all volunteers from 7am to 10pm. Additional information can be found at http://www.downtowndenver.com/Life/WhattoDo/MakeMusicDenver/tabid/578/Default.aspx
