Crested Butte was hopping with activity over 4th of July weekend. The mountainsides were blossoming with fresh wildflowers and the Colorado sun was glorious. Crested Butte Music Festival held its 3rd Bluegrass festival on July 6 and 7 and treated listeners to some mighty fine bluegrass during the day.
You can tell the festival is still growing and it will get larger and larger. The days were not too long. The shorter days made it possible for festival goers to take advantage of the area by biking, hiking, fishing, visiting the farmers market or sleeping in after a big night.
Crested Butte is a special place, but its light shines even brighter when music rings through the valley. Standout sets were Aoife O’Donovan, Mountain Heart, Larry Keel’s Band and the Allstar Jam with Greg Garrison, Andy Thorn, Larry Keel, Drew Emmitt and Sam Bush.
