It was a beautiful evening in Denver that turned quite rainy, but that did not damper the fun and energetic performances by both Josh Ritter & the Royal City Band as well as The Milk Carton Kids. Both bands put on delightful performances of their own unique takes on folk music. The Milk Carton Kids echoed Simon & Garfunkel plus David Rawlings and Gillian Welch, but in their own unique and tasteful style. They also had some of the most hilarious between song banter I have heard in a while, causing me to laugh out loud and even tear up a little while trying to take photos at the beginning. Following their set, Josh Ritter took the stage with his huge smile, positive charm and talented, well-dressed band. They played a very nice set and have a great gift for entertaining and engaging the audience the entire show. It was my first time to performance at the York Street Botanic Gardens and I approve! Just know that the show will be finished by 9:30 p.m. and that it is BYOB, or BYO anything for that matter.
