On their debut release, Denver’s Chain Station featured the song “Three Long Daze,” which sang about how it would take three days “to clean the hippie out of this place.” But on the band’s latest full-length album, the 11-song Dancin’ With The Law, Chain Station shows it took three long years to get rid of the hippie stank.

Dancin’ With The Law is a big leap forward for the group, and the recording fits alongside albums by some of Colorado’s other, more established modern bluegrass bands. While the group isn’t all button-down traditional (they still know how to have fun), their tight picking, great harmonies and solid songwriting make the band, and for that matter the album, appear to be much more mature and developed than many acts twice their age.
