December 30, 2013 was the fourth of five consecutive nights at The Boulder Theater for Yonder Mountain String Band’s New Year’s run. The night, which also served as a benefit for Planet Bluegrass, was a great variety show with many special guests like Sam Bush and Jerry Douglas playing the majority of the show, there were many appearances by Pete “Dr. Banjo” Wernick, Nick Forster, John Oates (Hall & Oates) and Benny “Burle” Galloway. It was a wonderful evening with a great mix of music and friends creating the kind of feeling and shows Planet Bluegrass pulls off at Telluride and Rockygrass. Ticket sales as well as funds from raffle and auction items this night were donated to Planet Bluegrass in Lyons to help rebuild the ranch and festival grounds that were devastated in the recent Colorado flood. Also, Jeff Austin mentioned that in July they will return for a two night Kinfolk Festival this summer at the beloved festival grounds in Lyons.
