Love Is The Answer
3.5 out of 5 stars
Most of Love Is The Answer sounds like famous bands. Rubedo’s pop alchemy takes the styles of everyone from Band of Horses, Tame Impala and Arcade Fire to The Black Keys and even Jónsi to create this disc, which they released digitally this fall and will release on cassette and 7” vinyl singles this month.
Blending all of those sounds and genres is great in that the tunes are immediately recognizable, but at some points the 10-song album makes you wonder what Rubedo, itself, sounds like. Then again, with three of the four core members of the group growing up in Denver it’s no wonder that the band has a distinctively broad Colorado sound that comes across as a mash-up of sounds that range from psychedelic roots to hip-hop.
