July 4 – 5
Crested Butte Mountain Resort
Crested Butte, Colo.
This Fourth of July weekend the scenic town of Crested Butte hosts Bluegrass In Paradise, a “mini-festival” within the Crested Butte Music Festival. It all began with a performance by bluegrass dynamos The Infamous Stringdusters in 2009 at the CBMF. That soldout show was such a success that Bluegrass In Paradise was formed a year later in 2010. Now the mini-festival boasts two days of bluegrass to help celebrate America’s birthday.
The festival kicks off with a free evening concert with Yarn and festival host Drew Emmitt before fireworks cap off the night.
You’re going there to see: Drew Emmit & The Paradise All-Star Band.
You’re going to come home talking about: Yarn, Shannon Whitworth.
Travel Time: (Denver, Colo. to Crested Butte, Colo.)
Total Estimated Time: 4 hours, 36 minutes
Total Estimated Distance: 245 miles
You Need To Know: In addition to bluegrass, the festival also has several other events that all work to create the all-American experience. From pie eating contests and log saw competitions to the Patriotic Brass Band performance by the Boston Brass, all of the events work to give a Norman Rockwell image of Crested Butte.
Camping: Tent Camping is free for all patrons of this year’s Bluegrass In Paradise.
