Reservoir Hill Park certainly could hold more people, but the real magic of Pagosa Folk ’N Bluegrass is the intimate, spacious feeling.

The main stage is set up under a tent that holds only 500 people, but many more folks gather around the open meadow behind the tent for the headliners. Most festivals are held in fields, whereas Pagosa is held in the woods alongside towering pines that provide tons of natural shade.

You need to know: Pagosa’s late-night shows (which had not been announced as of press time) take place in the Ponderosa Pavilion — the kids tent by day. For those not camping on site, a flashlight is a vital necessity for the walk back down the hill to the parking areas.
