“Groovalicious” is the word that Global Soul Experience gave to their fusion of funk, R&B, acid jazz, hip-hop, reggae, roots, samba, Salsa, West African and Afrobeat.
With that expansive catalog of genres from which they draw, the six tracks featured on their new EP Let’s Come Together — all of which were written by keyboardist/vocalist Janis Kelly and vocalist Amanda Grover — should cover some serious ground. But many of the tracks follow a rather similar theme and rhythm. “Connected” and “Let’s Come Together” sound like lost Average White Band tracks, without a horn section, but every track on the EP carries a consciously minded message of love and connection.
