Telluride Americana Music Fest
Sheridan Opera House – Telluride, Colo.
Telluride’s historic Sheridan Opera House plays home to the Telluride Americana Music Fest, which celebrates acoustic singer/songwriters in an atmosphere as intimate as anyone could ever really hope for.
The performers at Americana are not your everyday household names. These are America’s real troubadours — champions of folk, blues, and down-home country who have found success in the spotlight while still remaining fairly anonymous to those who don’t devoutly follow the craft. That being said, this is not a festival to be avoided by the uninitiated; rather, it is the perfect place for induction to occur. Essentially everyone — even those most familiar with the genre — leaves Telluride with at least one new act to talk about.
- You’re going there to see: Jack Ingram, Hal Ketchum, Eliza Gilkyson
- You’re going to come home talking about: Nouveaux Honkies, Louise Mosrie, Wild Ponies, Eric Taylor
