Pete Pidgeon & Arcoda
All The Little Things
There are artists who get to feature a couple special guests on their album and call it good and then there’s Pete Pidgeon.
The adaptable musician, who is also an author of the Phish memoir “Hampton 98,” is joined on his latest album by some incredible heavy hitters. But one musician in particular, that is no longer with us, recorded a track with Pidgeon more than 14 years ago and it’s that track, a cover of Bob Dylan’s “Tonight I’ll be Staying Here with You” which features Levon Helm on drums that is the focal point of the album.
Yes, the rest of it is solid, with accompaniment by Catherine Popper (Grace Potter, Ryan Adams), Glenn Patscha (Sheryl Crow) and Chris Pandolfi (Infamous Stringdusters), among many others, but the posthumous release of the recording with Helm can’t help but be the highlight. The album has been in the works for years (more than a decade and a half, if you count the Helm session) and it’s about time it finally sees the light of day.
