It takes all of seven seconds for A-Mac DZ’s Alex MacKenzie-Low to throw his first curve ball on The Gift Of Music. During those seven seconds a soft, sliding finger pick on an acoustic guitar starts then stops before a crowd counts down “One. Two. You know what to do,” and launches into a feverishly funky hip-hop/soul shakedown that support Mackenzie-Low’s vibrant conscious island vibe and flow. Knotting up acoustic rock, hip-hop, reggae and immensely positive messages, The Gift of Music straddles the line of intense conscious thinking and a laid-back delivery.
