Ready For Rock: Vol. 1
Ready for Rock: Vol. 1 is a sampler of 12 Denver bands. The compilation is both a collaborative effort of local musicians as well as a philanthropic project for their community. Ready for Rock: Vol. 1 is part of an awareness campaign for the Denver non-profit Youth on Record (formerly Flobots.org) and their goal of “empowerment and behavioral modification through music education to youth in Colorado who need it the most.” Featuring Anterrior, MEDIC, SPELLS, Overslept, Viretta, My Body Sings Electric, Wiredogs, Red Fox Run, Racing on the Sun, New Leverage, Montoneros, and Silver & Gold, the tracks are a vivid panoramic snapshot of the Denver alt rock/punk/math rock/emo scene. One run through the compendium is like a crash-course in this segment of the Denver musical landscape. It would have been a successful project alone, but the do-goodery element adds the icing on top.
