An Insomniac/C3 production in its first year, Middlelands wins, hands down, as the most unique festival setting. The Texas Rennaissance Festival Fair Grounds are actually a year-round Renaissance-themed amusement park. Stepping inside the gates will immerse attendees into a realm of unique wandering performance artists mashing up past and future (two favorite descriptions from the festie site are “cyber wenches” and “neon knights”), art installation eye candy galore, a lineup that boasts some of EDM’s top knights of the turntables — and free amusement park rides taboot. By combining fairy tale fantasy with electronic dreams, Middlelands promises to be a wild and otherworldly experience.
Lineup: Major Lazer, Bassnectar, Kaskade, Marshmello, Galantis, Alison Wonderland, Datsik, Seven Lions, Snails, NGHTMRE, ZHU, Phantogram, Crystal Castles, Gramatik, GRiZ, Big Gigantic, Rae Sremmurd, Danny Brown, Jurassic 5, Flatbush Zombies and more
