When bands announce their tour dates, rarely is Ogden, Utah listed among the destinations. The little city, 40 miles north of Salt Lake City, at the base of the Wasatch Range, is off the beaten path for the average touring band, which is why the all-volunteer non-profit Ogden Friends of Acoustic Music has dedicated itself to boosting the musical offerings of the town by bringing in high-level bluegrassers for the Ogden Music Festival, which serves as cultural enrichment for the community with a heavy focus on families and youths.
