A Mac & The Height
Part of it All

The name A-Mac has been around Denver for a few years now, but Part of it All marks the first endeavor under the moniker A-Mac & The Height. Although there’s a new name and new band members, the sounds of rock, reggae, and partying that the former group A-Mac DZ blended together, shines as brightly on this album as does founding member Alex Mackenzie’s consistent voice. Within the constructs of Part of it All are a vast amount of instruments coming together to form a comprehensive feel-good sound fitting for the summer energy. The group stays true to a constant reggae undertone but doesn’t shy away from shifting into different realms. Part of it All sees moments of funk and hip-hop and one entire song dedicated to marijuana. While the instruments are constantly layering themselves and changing directions, Mackenzie’s vocals and ability to hold a note keeps the songs together. Appropriately, his words match the passion in “Streets of Colorado” as he belts out the name of the band’s home state.  — C.H.
