Dean M. Curtis

To many, Dean Curtis is known as the bass player for the reggae group DubSkin, but on this solo debut the multi-instrumentalist eschewed island beats in favor of a mix of genres. From singer/songwriter material to punk-influenced rockers to sultry jazz tunes and some wonderfully exploratory post-rock, and cool psychedelic folk, Curtis dips his toes into a vast assortment of influences and styles. Packing that much diversity onto one album can be slightly disconcerting, but the fact that Curtis played nearly every instrument on the album gives a continuity amidst the chaos.
